What is LFT?
LFT is the quarterly magazine of the PWFC. It is written by fans, for fans and reflects the opinions of fans. This is not a professional magazine. While we try to maintain a quality of writing in the articles, please keep in mind that this is a fan magazine. Reviews and articles tend to reflect the personalities writing them
What type of content does LFT contain?
Anything relating to Peter Wingfield’s work, the club, the associated charity or the club members is included in the magazine. Our features include reviews of Peter’s work, interviews with Peter, interviews with people Peter has worked with, transcripts of convention Q&A’s, convention reports, analysis and comparisons of characters that Peter has played and feature spots on members of interest to the club. We also include club business that covers our charity work (through Project Edan), financial information, upcoming convention information, and auction information.
Who writes the articles for LFT?
The majority of the articles are written by PWFC members and/or the LFT staff. Occasionally we receive a few articles from non-members and we have printed several of them.
How can I get a sample of previous articles?
You can read a few excerpts from previous issues on our magazine Web page. Alternatively, you can purchase a print or pdf version of a previous magazine through our merchandise pages. We do not give out samples.
How long should a review be?
Generally speaking, the submitted reviews should be between 500 and 1200 words. They should include all details about the show, such as writer, director, air date and channel, actors and production company when possible. While reviews tend to reflect the writer’s opinion, we ask that you not personalize them too much; i.e. insert your own interpretation of the events in the show. This is something more suited to a commentary than a review. Comments on Peter’s performance in the program are expected.
What about more specific articles, such as comparisons of one
character to another or a study of a character?
The best bet on this is to contact the magazine editor at and inquire about interest in the article and a recommended length.
Will I get a by-line in the magazine?
Yes, indeed. In fact, we also prefer to publish an e-mail address so that any feedback on the article can be sent directly to you. If you do not want us to use your e-mail address, we will use the magazine’s e-mail address for feedback and forward any comments to you.
Will I be paid for any articles accepted?
Sorry, but the only payment we can give you is a free copy of the issue your article appears in. The PWFC is a non-profit organization and doesn’t have the finances to pay for articles in any other way.
Do you edit or change any submitted articles?
Yes, we do edit. If changes are requested, we will return them to you with suggested changes
What format is used for submitted articles?
The preferred format is Microsoft Word; however, we can also accept WordPerfect and text submissions. If you do not have a computer or cannot submit in one of these formats, please contact the editor. You may mail your submission to the club address, but this may delay or eliminate the inclusion of the article in the magazine.
When does my article have to be submitted?
Please contact the editor at . She’ll tell you what we are looking for and the submission deadline. Articles need to be submitted in time for an editor to review, make any necessary changes and send it back to you for approval.
How do I submit an article?
Send your article in one of the above-mentioned formats to . Please be sure to include your preferred name and e-mail address for inclusion as the article’s author and contact address (unless you don’t want us to use your address).
What about titling my article and subheadings?
If you have a title in mind for your article, please include it. Otherwise, our editors will put their thinking caps on and try to come up with a suitable one. If you have definite places in your article where you see a subheading, please include them in the article. The editors may or may not add these if you don’t, depending on the article.
What about photos or artwork?
If the photos or artwork accompany your article, please advise the editor of the number of photos you have so she can determine if the space is available in the magazine. If the artwork is an independent submission, we are always happy to look at any artwork. Again, the editor would determine if and when it would be used. Copyright details will be placed on all personal photos used. The copyright details of photos owned by studios (e.g. Twentieth Century Fox), photographers—anyone else but yourself—must be included. In most cases, such photos, and certainly screencaps, will be adjusted in a photo editor to preserve the copyright of the original imagery.
How about puzzles or word games?
We do occasionally use these, so please check with the editor to see if there is space available for this type of item.
I have a fan club for another actor. May I list it in LFT?
Please submit the information to . The editor will get back to you about your request.
I have merchandise to sell. May I list it in LFT?
No. We do not sell merchandise through the magazine other than PWFC items. If you have photos to sell and you allow LFT to use a few of your photos, we will point our readers to your web site.
